The Problem
Home cooks often discover recipes through social media, messaging apps, screenshots, and bookmarks. Over time, useful recipes become scattered across different platforms, making them difficult to organize, revisit, and share. Finding a dish based on available ingredients or a particular cuisine can be equally frustrating. Recipes are often buried in long posts, while photos of prepared dishes remain disconnected from the original recipe. There was also an opportunity to bring home cooks together around their shared interest in food. People needed a place to publish their own recipes, discover new ideas, follow cooks whose dishes they enjoyed, and share their cooking experiences. The goal was to build a dedicated recipe community that combined recipe publishing, discovery, and social interaction in one platform, with multilingual support to make content accessible to a wider audience.
The Solution
We built a recipe-sharing platform that combines structured recipe management with community features and content discovery. Recipe Publishing and Management: Users can publish recipes with ingredients, step-by-step instructions, and photos. They can also save recipes for later, making it easier to organize dishes they want to try and return to their favorites. Recipe Discovery and Search: The platform allows users to search for recipes by dish, ingredient, or cuisine. This helps home cooks discover relevant dishes based on their preferences and available ingredients instead of scrolling through unrelated content. Community and Social Features: Users can follow other cooks, explore popular recipes, and share photos of the dishes they prepare. These features connect recipes with the people who create and cook them, encouraging discovery and participation within the community. Multilingual Support: The platform supports multiple languages, helping users discover and share recipes in the languages they are comfortable using.
