What we take on
New applications, maintenance on systems you already run, or a scoped engagement: consultancy, backend, frontend, or DevOps.
Build a New Product
We help with product architecture, development, integrations, testing, deployment, and everything needed to get your product into the hands of users. Most of what we build starts as a rough idea and a deadline. We work out what the first version actually needs to do, build that, put it in front of real users, and keep going from there. You stay involved throughout. We ship in small increments you can look at and react to, rather than disappearing for three months and returning with a demo.
What we offer
- Product architecture and technical planning
- A first version scoped to what users actually need
- Database design and data modelling
- Authentication, permissions, and multi-tenancy
- Third-party integrations from day one
- Automated tests covering the paths that matter
- Deployment, monitoring, and a repeatable release process
- Handover so your team can run it without us
Our Process
- 1
Understand
We start by understanding your product, users, business goals, and technical requirements.
- 2
Plan
We identify the simplest practical solution and break the work into clear deliverables.
- 3
Build
We develop, test, and iterate while keeping you involved throughout the process.
- 4
Launch
We deploy the product and make sure everything is ready for real users.
- 5
Improve
We continue improving the product based on feedback, usage, and changing business needs.
Improve an Existing Product
We can help you add features, improve performance, modernize the technology, fix technical debt, and make the product easier to maintain. Taking over someone else's codebase is normal work for us. We read it, find out where the risk is, and start with changes that are safe to ship — not a rewrite you did not ask for. Slow pages, a framework version that blocks everything else, a test suite nobody trusts: these are the problems we tend to get called about, and they are fixable without stopping the roadmap.
What we offer
- Working with an existing codebase, including one with little documentation
- Performance work on slow pages, queries, and background jobs
- Framework and dependency upgrades
- Reducing technical debt without a full rewrite
- Adding test coverage where it is missing
- Refactoring so the next change is cheaper
- Architecture review and a written set of recommendations
- Fixing brittle deployments
Our Process
- 1
Read the code
We go through the codebase, the data model, and how it is deployed, then tell you what we found.
- 2
Measure
Before changing anything, we measure the problem so improvements can be proven rather than claimed.
- 3
Fix in order
We start with the changes that carry the most value for the least risk, shipping each one on its own.
- 4
Verify
We check the change against the numbers from the start, in production, not only on a laptop.
- 5
Keep it that way
Tests, indexes, and monitoring go in so the same problem does not quietly come back.
Web & Mobile Applications
Build modern applications for your customers, employees, or business operations — from responsive web applications to mobile experiences. Some of what we build is customer-facing. A lot of it is not: booking desks, practice management, asset registers, internal tools that a handful of people use all day and cannot afford to have break. Both matter, and the second kind is often where the real business value sits.
What we offer
- Responsive web applications that work on a phone
- Mobile apps built with React Native
- Internal tools and operations dashboards
- Role-based access for staff, customers, and partners
- Reporting and exports people actually use
- Search that returns the right thing
- Real-time updates where they help
- Accessibility and browser support as a baseline
Our Process
- 1
Map the work
We learn how the job is done today, including the spreadsheets and the chat threads, before designing anything.
- 2
Design the screens
We work out the small number of screens the job really needs and how people move between them.
- 3
Build and review
We build in increments and put each one in front of the people who will use it.
- 4
Test on real devices
Phones, tablets, and the older browser someone in the office still runs.
- 5
Roll out
We launch, watch how it behaves under real use, and fix what surfaces.
APIs & Integrations
Payments, CRMs, third-party APIs, webhooks, internal systems, and custom integrations. Integration work is where products tend to leak time. A payment that half-succeeded, a sync that silently stopped, a webhook delivered twice: the failure cases are the job, and they are what we plan for. We have built and consumed APIs on both sides — including Stripe payments, Salesforce syncing, DocuSign signatures, and GraphQL APIs serving mobile and web clients.
What we offer
- Payment integrations, including Stripe
- CRM and business-system syncing, including Salesforce
- REST and GraphQL APIs for your own clients to consume
- Webhook handling that survives retries and duplicates
- Background jobs and queues for work that cannot block a request
- Retries, idempotency, and sensible failure handling
- API documentation your integrators can follow
- Monitoring so a broken sync is noticed by you, not your customer
Our Process
- 1
Define the contract
We agree what moves between the systems, in which direction, and how often.
- 2
Plan the failures
Timeouts, duplicates, partial writes, and rate limits get designed for before any code is written.
- 3
Build behind a flag
Integrations ship switched off, then get turned on for a small slice of traffic first.
- 4
Reconcile
We check both sides agree, and build the tooling to answer that question later without us.
- 5
Monitor
Alerts on the sync itself, so a silent failure is a notification rather than a support ticket.
AI-Powered Features
We can help integrate AI into existing products and workflows, including automation, intelligent search, content processing, and other product features. The useful question is not whether to add AI, it is which part of your product has a job that a model does better than the code you would otherwise write. Sometimes the answer is none of it, and we will say so. When it does fit, it is still ordinary engineering: a feature with inputs, costs, failure modes, and tests.
What we offer
- Working out where AI helps and where it does not
- LLM integration into an existing product
- Search and retrieval over your own content
- Document and content processing
- Automating steps a person currently does by hand
- Cost and latency budgets set before the feature ships
- Sensible handling of wrong or empty model output
- Evaluation, so a prompt change can be judged rather than guessed at
Our Process
- 1
Find the job
We look for a specific task in your product worth automating, rather than starting from the technology.
- 2
Prototype cheaply
A small prototype on your real data, to find out whether the quality is good enough to ship.
- 3
Set the budget
Cost per request and acceptable latency get decided up front, not discovered on the invoice.
- 4
Build the fallbacks
What the product does when the model is wrong, slow, or unavailable is part of the feature.
- 5
Measure and iterate
We put evaluation in place so later changes can be compared against something.
Ongoing Engineering Support
Need experienced developers without building a large internal team? We can work as an extension of your engineering team and help continuously build and improve your product. That means joining your standups, your repository, and your review process, and being accountable for work the same way an employee would be. We have worked this way with teams in Sweden, the UK, Denmark, and the US for years, mostly remotely, and we are used to overlapping hours rather than throwing work over a wall.
What we offer
- A steady amount of engineering capacity each month
- Working in your repository, your process, your review standards
- Picking up features, fixes, and maintenance as they come
- Code review and mentoring for your own developers
- On-call and production support where that is wanted
- Dependency and framework upkeep so it never becomes a project
- Written handover as standard, not on request
- Overlapping working hours with US mornings and EU afternoons
Our Process
- 1
Get set up
Access, environment, and a first small change shipped in the first week.
- 2
Agree the cadence
How much capacity, how work arrives, and who decides priority.
- 3
Work the queue
Features, bugs, and maintenance handled in your process, reviewed by your team.
- 4
Report honestly
What shipped, what slipped, and what is worrying us — in writing, regularly.
- 5
Stay replaceable
We document as we go, so ending the engagement is never a crisis.
